July 3-4 Duluth Event
Live music lovers needed! Come to camp one or both nights. Steve has a wooded backyard and 2 indoor bathrooms. He even has a couple tents if needed. You’re on your own for meals unless he decides to grill some meat, or we could all go in on pizza delivery. BYOB and something to share as always. Paper plates, forks, napkins, and cups provided. People may want to go off on their own to hike in Piedmont Park which is a couple blocks away or explore Duluth, Two Harbors, and/or the scenic north shore drive to Split Rock and/or Gooseberry Falls with a stop at the famous Betty’s Pies. They also have ships going through the lift bridge, famous Grandma’s restaurant/bar, charter boats, fishing, biking, an aquarium, a zoo, Glensheen mansion tour, etc.
You can also get a hotel room if you want to stay closer to Canal Park. Michele and Dave are staying at The Inn On Lake Superior and it can serve as a meeting place on the lake when we meet downtown for the music. 7:50 p.m. — Welcome from Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert
8:00 p.m. — Some Shitty Cover Band
9:00 pm – Sunset over Lake Superior - hopefully if not cloudy/rainy
10:00 p.m. - Massive fireworks finale!
Bayfront rules for both events: No outside food, beverages, coolers, weapons, pets, or fireworks including sparklers. One empty water bottle allowed per person to fill at water stations. Bring sunscreen, small umbrella, bug spray, and bag chairs or blankets to sit on. Don’t forget ear plugs if your hearing has been affected by aging like Steve.
Limited parking is available at the DECC ramp, Great Lakes Aquarium, and Railroad Street lots. We can carpool from Steve’s house. Parking also in downtown ramps then walk to Canal Park for fireworks or it’s a 10-minute walk to Bayfront Park.
